Annenberg Media reported 13 layoffs at Annenberg on Aug. 11, and Morning, Trojan reported 24 layoffs in University IT and 13 at USC Communications on Aug. 14 as well as 11 at USC Libraries on Aug. 15.

Notices filed with the state may not include all employees, as employees “must have been employed for at least 6 months of the 12 months preceding the date of required notice in order to be counted,” according to the California Employment Development Department.

In its Aug. 14 notice filed with the state and city, the University wrote that it expected additional layoffs.

“Based on the best information available to it as of this notice, USC is unable to identify the date(s) of such subsequent separations with any specificity because USC continues to evaluate the impact of actual and/or potential cutbacks in funding and necessary budget reductions,” the University wrote.
